Recently, I have received many requests for help from novice poop scoopers in the background: How to teach a kitten to use the litter box so that it will not urinate and poop? Arrange it!

It is natural for cats to cover up their feces and urine, because cats living in the wild, in order to avoid being discovered by potential predators, will choose to defecate in sandpits or grass and then bury them.

Most kittens will learn how to use cat litter from their mother cats when they are 4 weeks old; if they are orphans or cats that were taken away too early, they will not have the opportunity to learn; even if they have passed When a kitten is in the lactation period and has learned to go to the toilet in a new environment, if you want it to quickly learn to use the litter box and go to the toilet, it cannot do without the guidance of the poop scraper.

Pay attention to the placement of the litter box

Before taking the kitten home, I believe the litter box owners have already prepared the litter box and litter for the cat. What needs to be paid attention to at this time is the placement of the litter box.

First of all, do not put the cat’s litter box together with the cat’s water and food. No one wants to eat next to the toilet, right?

Secondly, the cat litter box should be placed in a ventilated and quiet corner with little traffic, so as to create a relatively "private" toilet environment for cats, so that they can go to the toilet with peace of mind.

Get familiar with the cat litter box as soon as possible

When we take the kitten home, regardless of whether it can use the litter box or not, the first thing we have to do is take the cat to familiarize itself with the toilet as soon as possible.

Put the cat in a clean litter box, and then become familiar with the smell of the litter. In addition, the relatively closed space of the litter box can provide the cat with a sense of security. In this way, when the cat wants to hide or poop, he will immediately think of going to the litter box.

Guide the cat to the litter box

Of course, kittens who don’t know how to use the litter box will urinate randomly at home. At this time, what the scavenger has to do is to use tools to get the cat's excrement into the litter box, and carry the kittens into the litter box, let them smell the excrement, and then grab the kitten Use your claws to dig into the sand to cover it.

This is a long process. Kittens cannot learn it in one go, and they may not necessarily cooperate with you. But remember, be patient during this process, do not reprimand the kitten, remember to praise it more, especially when it does something right, you can reward it appropriately, so that the kitten can learn to use the litter box by itself as soon as possible.

If the scavenger can always be with the cat, you can guide the cat to go to the litter box for a while after playing with it and after it eats food. This will always give it a chance to excrete, and then stimulate it.It is his nature to bury his daddy by himself.

Of course, every time you put it in, you have to walk away quietly and let it stay by itself. Because cats are used to excreting in a private environment, they don’t want to hear any noise when they urinate. Repeat this many times and the cat will know that this is where it goes to the toilet.

Clean up the excrement outside

In addition, the cat's excrement outside the cat litter box must be cleaned by the scavenger, and sprayed with special pet disinfectant to completely remove the smell of their excrement, so that the cat will not easily poop in the same spot.

Don’t think that just because you mopped the floor and you can’t smell it, it’s okay. Cats’ sense of smell is far superior to humans. Only spraying special disinfectant can prevent cats from continuing to urinate randomly.

Don’t change cat litter too quickly

When the kitten begins to adapt to the smell of cat litter, if the cat litter is suddenly changed, it may cause the cat to be too nervous to poop out because of the unfamiliar smell. The cat then feels insecure and refuses to continue going to the litter box to use the toilet. .

If the cat litter is too dirty and needs to be replaced, it is best to change it step by step. By mixing the old and new cat litter at the beginning, the kitten can gradually become familiar with the smell of the new cat litter.

In short, if you want a kitten to learn any skill, it is inseparable from the person's personal demonstration, guidance, encouragement and praise.

For kittens, the effect of praise is far greater than reprimands and scolds. Shit scrapers must be calm and take your time. Don't get angry at the kitten just because of one or two failures. This will easily make it rebellious and fearful of you. It will not learn new skills and will also affect your relationship. feelings between.
