It is not necessary to choose a fully enclosed litter box for cats. Experiments have shown that cats do not care much about whether the cat litter box has a lid. A fully enclosed litter box will bring convenience to the owner's life, because A fully enclosed cat litter box can prevent cat litter from splashing out and prevent odors from spreading. Some cats are more privacy-conscious and like to go to the toilet in a hidden litter box, but some cats think that a fully enclosed litter box will feel oppressive, and they prefer a spacious and bright litter box. Therefore, when choosing a cat litter box, you still have to decide according to the cat’s preferences.

Types of cat litter boxes

1. Open litter box. It is a relatively common cat litter box, which can meet the basic needs of cats. It will not make the cat feel restrained when used, but it also leaves the cat with no privacy, and it is easy to dig the cat litter outside.

2. Semi-enclosed cat litter box. It is higher than the open cat litter box and can act as a shield to prevent cats from scratching the cat litter outside.

3. Closed cat litter box. There is usually an entrance and exit, either above or on the side, which is suitable for shy cats who don’t like to be disturbed when going to the toilet. It can effectively prevent cat litter from being taken out and prevent the spread of odor. But when choosing, don’t make it too small, as the cat will be unable to move.

4. Single and double-layer cat litter boxes. The single-layer cat litter box is suitable for sand types that condense when exposed to water, such as mineral sand, paper sand, condensed sawdust sand, tofu sand, etc. They need to be cleaned frequently, otherwise bacteria will breed. The double-layer cat litter box is suitable for types such as sawdust sand and crystal sand that do not clump when exposed to urine. Cat litter is placed on the upper layer and absorbent urine pads are placed on the lower layer. This will prevent excrement from accumulating in the basin and producing odor and bacteria.

5. Automatic cat litter box. Divided into fully automatic and semi-automatic. Semi-automatic requires manual cleaning of cat litter, while fully automatic can clean it automatically at regular intervals, which is more convenient, but the price will be very expensive and special cat litter needs to be used.
