I believe that every cat owner hopes that his cat can grow up healthily, and vaccines play a very key role. Taking kittens for vaccinations is essential for cat owners. Vaccines are also the basic guarantee for cat health. So how much do everyone know about cat vaccines?

What is cat triple vaccine?

The vaccines currently given to cats are generally cat triple vaccine. What is cat triple vaccine? In fact, cat triple vaccine is not the official name, but the common name for this vaccine. The main reason why it is called triple vaccine is that this vaccine is a three-in-one vaccine, that is, one vaccine can prevent three diseases at the same time - feline distemper, feline rhinorrhea, and feline calicivirus. The most common cat vaccines currently on the market are Intervet’s Feline Sanlian and Pfizer’s Miosanto.

How often should cats be vaccinated?

Under normal circumstances, cats can get the first shot when they are 8 weeks old! The second shot is given when they are 12 weeks old, and the third shot is given when they are 16 weeks old. The time for each vaccination cannot exceed 7 days from the scheduled time.

Things to note after vaccination!

1. Antibodies will not be produced until seven days after vaccination, so be sure not to bathe your cat during these seven days.

2. It is not easy to vaccinate a kitten that has just been brought home. The cat needs to be allowed to slowly adapt to the environment first. It is usually a week before the cat is vaccinated.

3. After the injection, you need to be observed in the hospital for a while to avoid allergies.

4. It is normal for cats to experience lethargy, loss of appetite, etc. after being vaccinated.

5. After three injections in the first year, booster vaccines are required every year thereafter.

Should I get rabies vaccine?

Rabies is fatal! The mortality rate of infected animals and humans is 100%! However, cats raised entirely indoors have no contact with dogs in the outside world, and there is no need to get rabies vaccinations. If you often take your cat out, or if you keep cats and dogs together, you must be vaccinated against rabies.
