The symptoms of Demodex in dogs are mainly manifested on the skin, hair and clinical examination. Finally, the long, wriggling worms can be directly observed through microscopic examination.

Treatment methods for dog demodicosis:

1. Alcohol disinfection: Under the guidance of a doctor, apply 25% or 50% benzyl benzoate emulsion. Soak in 5% formalin solution for 5 minutes, once every 3 days for about 5 to 6 times. Cut the pustules, rinse them with 3% hydrogen peroxide solution, 3% iodine tincture or 3% gentian violet solution, and then treat them as scales. For seriously ill dogs, alcohol should be used to disinfect the entire body.

2. Isolation treatment: Isolate the sick dog, and kill and disinfect contaminated places and equipment.

3. Penicillin therapy: In addition to parasitizing the skin and subcutaneous connective tissue, Demodex can also parasitize lymph nodes. Therefore, when treating pustular type, local treatment and chemotherapy should be combined with intravenous trypsin injection or intramuscular injection of trypsin, supplemented by high-dose penicillin treatment. It is recommended to frequently disinfect, kill mites and bacteria, remove lice and fleas, etc. After summer, pet medicated baths are often used for bathing.
