A hard bump on a cat's tail may be caused by external parasite infection, mosquito bites, fungal skin diseases, etc. It is recommended that the owner carefully observes the cat's condition to see if there are any other abnormal symptoms. If the hard bumps on the cat's tail slowly subside, it may be caused by mosquito bites. If your cat still has symptoms such as itching and white or black dots are found under the hair, it may be caused by an external parasite infection. If your cat has hair loss and dandruff on its hard bumps, and your cat scratches or bites them, it may be caused by a fungal skin disease.

1. Caused by ectoparasite infection

If the cat often plays outside and the owner does not deworm the cat regularly, the cat is likely to be infected with ectoparasites and suffer from parasite bites. Hard bumps will form on the cat's tail. At the same time, due to itching, the cat will frequently bite and scratch its tail, causing the skin to become red. In this case, the cat needs to be dewormed externally in time. After that, the cat needs to be dewormed externally every other month and internally every three months.

2. Caused by mosquito bites

Because mosquitoes feed on the blood of animals, they will also bite cats, causing red hard bumps to appear on the bitten areas. The owner can observe it for a day or two to see if the hard bump disappears on its own. If the hard bump disappears, it means it was bitten by a mosquito. If you are worried about your cat being bitten by mosquitoes, you can also use children's mosquito repellent lamps at home, which can effectively prevent mosquito bites.

3. Suffering from fungal skin diseases

If you find hard bumps on your cat’s tail that look like scabs, they can be easily picked off, and are accompanied by dandruff and hair loss. Such phenomena may also be caused by fungal skin diseases such as cat moss. It is recommended that owners first isolate their cats and clean and disinfect their homes to avoid being infected. Then take the cat to the pet hospital for relevant examinations. Use a Wood's lamp to illuminate the cat in a dark environment, and there will be an obvious fluorescent green phenomenon. After the cat ringworm is diagnosed, symptomatic treatment needs to be carried out according to the doctor's advice.
