After cats are infected with the herpes virus, they will experience symptoms such as listlessness, loss of appetite, increased secretions from the eyes, nose and mouth, which are mostly purulent, increased body temperature, ulcers and other symptoms. At the same time, there will also be symptoms such as being unable to open the eyes, clinical manifestations of "big and small eyes", and frequent sneezing. Some cats will have symptoms such as coughing and runny nose. Because the symptoms of a cat infected with herpes virus are very similar to those of a cold, many pet owners will ignore it. It is recommended that you take your cat to a pet hospital for a nucleic acid test in time and receive prompt treatment after diagnosis.

After a cat is infected with the herpes virus, the symptoms vary with each course of the disease.

1. In the early stage of the disease, there are obvious symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection. Cats may show sneezing, coughing, tearing, elevated body temperature, and increased nasal secretions, which are serous at first and purulent later. Symptoms such as discharge can easily be confused with general upper respiratory tract infections.

2. In the middle stage of the disease, symptoms such as redness and swelling of the conjunctiva of the eyes, purulent secretions, fever, loss of appetite, increased nasal secretions, shortness of breath, and even respiratory disorders may occur.

3. In the later stages of the disease, symptoms such as oral ulcers, congestion of the nasal mucosa, bloody nose, weight loss, loss of appetite, and weight loss may occur. In severe cases, it can lead to conjunctival perforation, blindness, dehydration, and even death. When the above symptoms appear, the owner should take the cat to the pet hospital for diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible.
