The editor’s cat, Garfield, is prone to eye problems, so he is relatively careful in his daily care, but he still didn’t prevent him from seeing the cat with one eye closed tightly after work one day. When I woke up, my eyes were obviously swollen. When I opened my eyes, I saw that they were full of eye feces. I knew that the cat’s eyes were inflamed.

What should I do if my cat’s eyes are inflamed and cannot be opened?

1. Eye inflammation

Mild bacterial eye inflammation usually includes tearing, red and swollen eyes, mucus-like secretions in the eyes, and eye secretions. If the cat's eyes are not wiped clean for a few days, the area around the cat's eyes will be dirty, and secretions will cover the eyes. If not cleaned in time, bacteria will invade the cat's eyes for a long time, causing redness, swelling, and ectropion. If a kitten sheds tears frequently or even has red and swollen eyes, parents should consider that the cat at home may be suffering from conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis is a common eye disease in cats. The most common clinical symptom of conjunctivitis is congestion and redness of the affected eyes, which may be accompanied by photophobia, tearing, conjunctival edema, and increased eye secretions.

2. Viral infection

Cats suffering from feline nasal bronchitis, which is viral bronchitis, will also have red, swollen and tearful eyes. Cats infected with rhinorrhea will show symptoms of conjunctivitis, such as red and swollen eyes, watery eyes, difficulty opening, etc., as well as sneezing, runny nose, loss of appetite, depression and other symptoms. First of all, we need to understand how the virus works. It relies on arginine in cats to replicate and spread. Catamine cream contains a large amount of lysine, which can block the development of the virus, so cats need to be supplemented with lysine. Amino acid, so where does lysine come from?

Lysine can be obtained from catamine, and taken together with amoxicillin and cephalosporin anti-inflammatory, it can effectively prevent the replication of the virus. Don’t slack off after your cat recovers, and always pay attention to your cat’s physical condition.
