Symptoms of dog gastritis include vomiting, pain, depression, etc. Sick dogs are more likely to be thirsty, but will vomit it up immediately after drinking water, have loss of appetite, anorexia and refusal to eat, and may appear dehydrated, emaciated, etc. . The initial vomitus is mainly chyme, followed by foamy mucus and gastric juice.
Treatment of dog gastritis:
1. Food stop therapy. Dogs suffering from gastritis should stop eating for 24 hours and water for 12 hours. Then feed easy-to-digest liquid food, such as warm milk, porridge, vegetable soup, etc. Pay attention to eating small and frequent meals.
2. Excrete poisons. For toxic gastritis, 2 to 10 mg of morphine hydrochloride is injected subcutaneously, or 15 to 60 ml of castor oil is taken orally to promote the excretion of toxic substances.
3. Antivomiting and rehydration. For sick dogs with refractory vomiting, use 1 mg of chlorpromazine per kilogram of body weight for intramuscular injection. Metoclopramide 1 mg per kilogram of body weight can also be injected intramuscularly or metoclopramide 12 tablets taken orally. If severe vomiting leads to loss of water and electrolytes, compound sodium chloride solution, 5% glucose solution, 5% sodium bicarbonate solution, etc. can be injected intravenously. At the same time, pay attention to supplementing potassium ions, vitamin C, and vitamins.
4. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. For gastritis caused by secondary infectious diseases, commonly used antibiotics for anti-inflammation include gentamicin, kanamycin, penicillin, etc.
