Causes of eczema in dogs:

1. Caused by stimulation by various factors: under the action of external physical factors and chemical factors, such as mechanical compression , friction, bites, scratches, mosquito bites; certain internal medicines, topical medicines, disinfectants. Unclean skin, irritated by dirt, etc.

2. Poor feeding and management conditions: factors such as moisture in the kennel can stimulate the body, cause skin allergies, and cause eczema. Excessive intake of carbohydrates is more likely to cause eczema. The disease is more common in seasons with higher temperatures and higher humidity. The disease is most common in summer and autumn, especially from May to September.

3. Nutritional deficiency: If a dog lacks vitamins and trace elements, it will cause the dog’s skin to have low resistance and may also cause eczema.

Symptoms of eczema in dogs:

1. The main symptoms of acute eczema are red rashes or papules on the skin. The lesions begin on the face and back, especially on the face and back. The bridge of the nose, eyes and cheeks can easily spread to the surrounding areas and form small blisters. After the blisters burst, there will be local erosion. Due to itching and the moistness of the affected area, the animals will be restless and lick and bite the affected area, causing the symptoms of skin papules to worsen.

2. Due to the long course of the disease, chronic eczema causes thickening of the skin, lichenification, and dandruff. Although the moistening of the skin relieves the symptoms, symptoms of itching remain and may worsen. The most common clinical eczema is eczematous rhinitis in dogs. Lupus or pemphigus occurs in the nose and other parts of the sick dog. The affected area is scabbed, and sometimes serous fluid and ulcers are seen; when systemic and discoid lupus occurs, depigmentation and ulcers appear on the nose.

Treatment methods for dogs suffering from eczema:

1. Penicillin and gentamicin can be injected intramuscularly to prevent infection.

2. For cases with severe symptoms, it can be mixed with dexamethasone injection and injected intramuscularly, twice a day. Apply fluocinolone acetonide or triamcinolone acetonide ointment to the affected skin. To prevent skin infection, apply it alternately with erythromycin ointment.

3. As a desensitization method, you can take oral dexamethasone tablets 0.2 mg/kg body weight or oral prednisone acetate tablets 1.0 mg/kg body weight. After frying the hair on the affected area, apply Fusong or Piyanping ointment on the skin. If the pus cells are inflamed, intramuscular injection of gentamicin or penicillin can be used to prevent infection.
