Research shows that cats are the most capable of eating meat among terrestrial carnivores. We can be sure that cats are carnivores and like to eat meat very much!

So, with so many meats, which ones are more suitable for cats to eat? What nutrients do these meats have? How should they be selected and cooked? Let’s find out together. ​​​​​​

 01. Fish

Fish meat refers to the meat of fish.

There are many types of fish, including freshwater fish, marine fish, and some frozen fish fillets. Their meat is delicious and nutritious.

Main ingredients:

Rich in protein, vitamins A, D, E, B, calcium, iron and scale.

Selection:

Fish with few thorns, tender meat and not too fishy smell is enough.

Method:

Steam or boil it before giving it to cats.

Warm reminder:

Raw fish and meat carry parasites, which can only be killed by high-temperature cooking. It is recommended not to feed raw fish to cats.

Fish meat is lean meat and is very suitable for cats who are prone to obesity. (Fat content less than 2 grams/100 grams of fish)

 02. Chicken

Chicken, the meat is fresh and tender, tastes delicious and has high protein content.

Main ingredients:

Protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, fat and vitamins C and E.

Selection:

Every 100 grams of chicken contains 9.6 grams of fat. Chicken breast is the best choice to feed cats; chicken breast has the lowest fat content among the whole chicken.

Method:

Steam or boil it before giving it to cats.

Warm reminder:

1. For chicken breast, you can choose large chicken breast or small chicken breast, the taste of the two is slightly different:

a. Large chicken breast: firm meat and strong flavor;

b. Small chicken breast: The meat is tender and has a light aroma.

2. Raw chicken carries bacteria or parasites, which can only be killed by professional machine processing or high-temperature cooking. It is recommended not to feed raw chicken to cats.

 03. Beef

Beef has thick fiber and needs to be simmered for a long time before you can taste the fragrant, tender and refreshing beef.

Main ingredients:

Rich in protein, calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, magnesium, vitamins B6, B12, taurine and amino acids.

Selection:

Either tenderloin or leg meat can be used. The meat of these two parts is tender and contains no fat.

Method:

Eat raw (i.e. feed raw beef to cats)

Freeze fresh beef at a low temperature of -20° for 72 hours to fully kill parasites and germs; after thawing, wait until the temperature is suitable before feeding it to cats.

Cooked and eaten

Boil it with water until it becomes mashed before giving it to the cat. After the water boils, cook it over low heat, otherwise it will become harder as it cooks.

Warm reminder:

1. Raw beef is the best choice for male cats who need to grow their cheeks. It is helpful for hair and cheeks and is not easy to gain weight. Every 100 grams of beef contains 2.3 grams of fat.

2. Although bacteria and parasites will be killed after freezing raw beef, for the sake of cat health, it is still recommended that cats who often eat raw beef should undergo internal deworming regularly, usually once every 2-3 months.

3. Kittens between 1 and 3 months old have weak intestines and stomachs and should not be fed raw beef.

 04. Shrimp meat

Shrimp, due to its attractive color when cooked and the sweet and tender meat, is not only loved by humans but also by almost all cats!

Main ingredients:

Rich in protein, zinc, iodine, sun and glycine, and low in fat.

Method:

Peel the shells from the fresh shrimps and cook the shrimp meat (shrimp meat) before giving it to the cat.

Warm reminder:

Be sure not to feed shrimp shells to cats, as they can easily cause vomiting.

The removed shrimp shells should be put away or thrown away in time. Cats have a keen sense of smell, and because the smell of shrimp is too tempting, they will usually eat it secretly!

 05. Duck meat

Duck meat has a sweet taste and a slightly woody texture. It is also a delicacy on the table.

Main ingredients:

Rich in protein, vitamins B and E, calcium, phosphorus, iron and niacin, and moderate in carbohydrates and fat.

Selection:

Skinless or boneless duck breast or duck leg meat can be used. The meat of these two parts is tender and has less fat.

Method:

Stew until thoroughly cooked before giving it to the cat.

Warm reminder:

Duck meat is relatively cool in nature, so cats who love fire should choose to feed duck meat.

Be sure to remove the skin and bones.

 06. Pork

Pork has a delicious taste.

Main ingredients:

Protein, fat, calcium, iron, phosphorus and carbohydrates, etc.

Selection:

Just choose lean meat with less fat (skinless and boneless).

Method:

Boil it in water and give it to the cat.

Warm reminder:

Pork has a higher fat content than other meats, with a fat content of about 28 grams per 100 grams. Therefore, cats should be fed pork in small amounts.

The above are meats suitable for cats. Cat mothers and fathers can choose according to the preferences of their cats. Unless there are special circumstances, it is recommended to feed meat 3-4 times a week. Cats are carnivores, but their intake still needs to be controlled. More is not always better.

Important reminder:

Try not to add salt to all meats during the cooking process, because excessive salt intake will increase the burden on the cat’s kidneys!

Do not feed fish bones, chicken bones, or duck bones to cats to prevent throat obstruction, gastrointestinal irritation, and vomiting.
