How to select a Sphynx cat:

1. Body characteristics: weight between 3.5 and 7 kg. The bones are of medium size and the muscles are quite developed. The skin is covered with very fine villi, the hair is sparse, and the skin is wrinkled.

2. Coat color characteristics: skin folds on head, body and legs. The skin is tight elsewhere. The coat is limited to fine down covering most of the body. There is a small amount of hair on the face, paws, tail and testicles. Therefore, "hairless" cats are not worthy of their name.

3. Physical characteristics: The head is medium in size, sharply angular, slightly triangular, longer than wide. The forehead is flat and the cheekbones are high. The nose is short and prominent, or may be slightly terminated. The muzzle is very round, broad and short. Obvious mustache demarcation. The chin is strong. The mustache is sparse, short or absent.

4. Ears: Very large, very wide at the base. The ears are completely hairless. Some fuzz is allowed behind the ears.

5. Eyes: Large and lemon-shaped, with upper nipples slanting toward the ears and widely spaced. The color matches the coat.

6. Neck: long, curved and muscular. The tomcat's neck is particularly powerful.

7. Legs and claws: The length of the legs is proportional to the body. The front legs are slightly curved and slightly shorter than the hind legs. Bones are of medium size. Muscles are tight and well developed. The claws are medium in size, oval in shape, with long toes and thick pads.

8. Tail: Moderately long, slender, whip-shaped tail, also known as "rat tail". There may be a tuft of hair at the tip of the tail ("lion tail").

9. Coat: The skin appears hairless and the texture is like that of an antelope.
