How do dogs mate? Instructions for dog breeding!Many friends think that dogs can mate as long as they have experienced early estrus. In fact, being sexually mature does not mean that you can mate and have children.

Generally speaking, female dogs often have not reached physical maturity when they first go into heat, and their body organs, including the birth canal, have not yet developed well. You can get pregnant by mating at this time, but the number of offspring will be small, and the chance of dystocia will increase, which will hinder physical development. Therefore, it is best not to mate during the first estrus. It is most appropriate to mate when the vaginal bleeding of the female dog is about to end (about 9 to 15 days), and mating can usually be carried out on the 10th day.

Dog mating partners:

1. The same breed and similar size, but inbreeding should be avoided;

2. It is best to choose a male or female dog in young adulthood. It is best not to consider dogs after seven years old.

3. Good health and no genetic diseases. The dogs of both breeding partners do not have epilepsy, cryptorchidism, heart disease, deafness, cataracts, dental malocclusion, hernia, bone and joint disease or serious skin diseases. After breeding such dogs, the puppies will be of the best quality.

Dog breeding methods

There are four dog breeding methods, namely natural mating, assisted mating, forced mating and artificial insemination. The specific method to be used should be determined based on the specific conditions of the male and female dogs.

(1) Natural mating: It is suitable for situations where the male and female dogs are similar in size, the male and female dogs have mating experience, the female dog is obviously in estrus, and the female dog can remain standing stable when the male dog climbs astride. Before mating, choose a secluded place where no one is watching and the ground is flat but not smooth. Scatter the male and female dogs there and wait for them to mate naturally.

(2) Assisted mating: It is suitable for male and female dogs that have no mating experience, or the size of the male and female dogs are not coordinated, and the female dog does not cooperate when the male dog climbs. During mating, the dog owner holds the female dog's collar, and then uses the other hand to support her chest and abdomen (small dogs), or bend her knees to support the female dog's chest and abdomen (large dogs), so that she can maintain a stable standing posture. This will prevent the female dog from squatting down while the male dog is climbing.

(3) Forced mating: It is suitable for situations where the female dog is in heat but has a habit of refusing to mate, or the size of the male and female dogs is very different. The method of forced mating is similar to assisted mating, but the female dog should wear a muzzle to prevent it from turning back and biting people or male dogs when forced. The male dog used for forced mating must be a dog with strong sexual desire and mating experience.

(4) Artificial insemination: Generally, this method is not used in raising dogs at home. This method requires certain equipment and technology and is mainly used in large-scale breeding farms.

Dog mating process:

If you have an experienced male or female dog, the mating process will be very fast. Male dogs and female dogs mating for the first time will waste a long time in contacting and climbing with each other, or even fail. Therefore, it is best to choose one of the parties who is experienced.

If there is really no other way, help is needed. The key points are as follows:

1. Bring the female dog to a strange environment so that the female dog will be more docile; then choose a quiet environment with as few people around as possible;

2. Optional Land (or area with carpet) for added stability. One of them fixed the head of the female dog to prevent her from turning around or swinging, and let the male dog crawl on its back to mate. Generally, all dogs with similar body sizes can succeed;

3. If it still fails, you can observe whether the female dog is If the position of the vulva is too high or too low, the height of the female dog’s hindquarters can be raised or lowered appropriately

The above has introduced matters related to dog breeding. Dogs will give birth about 9 weeks after breeding.
