Notes on budgerigar breeding:

1. Pair at the right time. Budgies develop into adult birds 5 to 8 months after hatching and can be paired for breeding. Budgies have strong reproductive capacity and can reproduce in all seasons under artificial breeding conditions, with spring, summer and autumn being the peak seasons.

2. Prevent inbreeding. The paired breeding birds should not only be healthy, but also be closely related by blood. Once inbreeding occurs, the offspring will become smaller and dead eggs or chicks will be produced when the eggs are laid and hatched.

3. Hanging nest boxes. More artificial nest boxes should be hung in the aviary to prepare for egg laying and hatching. When hanging the nest box, in order to reduce the interference between the birds, a wave pattern of one high and one low is adopted, and the female bird can choose freely.

4. Help birds lay eggs. After the male and female birds mate, the female bird enters the nest box and begins to lay eggs. If the female bird is found to have reversed feathers and trembles, it is mostly due to dystocia. At this time, you can gently adjust the position of the eggs in the rectum with your hands. So that the eggs can be laid successfully.

5. Feed staple food. The incubation period of budgies is 16 to 20 days, and the eggs are hatched entirely by the female bird. During the incubation period, all the eggs are fed by the male bird. At this time, feed the staple food and stop feeding the green feed.
