Causes of metritis in female dogs:

1. Usually during estrus, breeding, delivery, difficult labor and postpartum period, pathogenic microorganisms, such as Streptococcus, , Staphylococcus, Escherichia coli, etc. ascend through the vagina and cause uterine infection.

2. Vaginitis, miscarriage, stillbirth, brucellosis, salmonellosis, etc. can all cause endometritis.

Treatment methods for metritis in female dogs:

1. First, intramuscularly inject diethylstilbestrol 0.1 mg/kg body weight to open the uterine orifice to facilitate the discharge of secretions. Another injection of uterine contraction medicine on the second day can fully discharge the inflammatory secretions in the uterus.

2. Systemic antibiotic application: penicillin 50,000 units/kg body weight, streptomycin 40,000 units/kg body weight, mixed intramuscular injection, 2 times/day.

3. Systemic maintenance therapy: intravenous infusion of glucose saline, 5% sodium bicarbonate, vitamin C, etc.

4. For cases in which treatment is ineffective, ovariohysterectomy should be considered.
