How to raise budgerigars:
1. Prepare a cage
Budgerigars cannot use wooden cages, but wire cages. The cage should also have fine wood shavings inside the cage for the parrot to play with. There is a drawer-type sand tray (dung tray) at the bottom of the cage to facilitate cleaning of feces.
2. Diet
The feed for budgerigars is mainly millet and barnyard grass, and some hemp seeds or perilla are also fed, but the dosage cannot exceed 10%. In order to ensure the nutrients the birds need, vegetables and inorganic salts must also be fed regularly.
3. Ensure the temperature
Budgerigars are afraid of both cold and heat. Pay attention to keeping warm in winter, and the indoor temperature should not be lower than 16℃. The temperature is higher in summer, and ventilation is generally required when temperatures are above 30°C. Also be careful not to expose the budgerigar directly to strong sunlight in summer.
4. Hygiene aspects
If you want parrots to be less likely to get sick, you must pay attention to the hygiene in the cage and clean up sand and feces frequently. Food boxes and water bottles should be cleaned once or twice every two or three days. The feces should be cleaned every two or three days, and the nest box should be replaced with sawdust and other bedding materials frequently.
5. Domestication
When cultivating the relationship between the owner and the budgie, it should be done slowly and not in a hurry. At the beginning, you can open the door of the cage and feed it with delicious food in your hand. When the pet bird can chase the owner's hand to eat, you can release its wings.
