The maned lion lizard will not recognize its owner. Because bearded lion lizards are cold-blooded animals, although they can be kept as pets, they generally do not have the ability to recognize their owners. But if the owner spends a long time with them and feeds them with his own hands every time, they will become familiar with the owner's smell and movements and develop conditioned reflex behaviors. For example, they will run over to the owner when they see him and will not bite him.

The correct way to raise the maned lion lizard:

1. Prepare the activity place for the maned lion lizard. To raise a pet lizard in a tank, you need to prepare a container with a larger volume. At least one side of the container should be 2.5 times the length of the lizard. This can be prepared according to the size of the pet lizard. Put some rocks and some sand in the container, and plant some plants to give the lizard a place to hide and rest. You also need to place a water basin. Some lizards not only need to drink water, but also need regular baths. Don't neglect the ventilation of the container. Too much heat is not good for your lizard's health. If the container is a sealed glass box or tank, ventilation holes must be provided next to it. It is best to use a reptile terrarium with a glass door in the front and sand mesh on both sides so that there is good ventilation.

2. Prepare enough food. Beared lion lizards eat meat, so you can prepare them with insects such as cockroaches, mealworms, and earthworms sold in the market. However, lizard species that eat both plants, such as skinks, American iguanas, and water dragons, do not eat meat. You can prepare vegetables and fruits for them. When feeding lizards, pay attention to the frequency of feeding. You don’t need to feed your lizard very frequently, it can be once a day or once every two days. If the lizard is relatively young and grows and develops quickly, it can be fed twice a day.

3. Suitable environment. Beared lion lizards are cold-blooded animals and are relatively sensitive to temperature. It is very important to keep the surrounding temperature suitable. Try to maintain the temperature above 20 degrees. In winter, you can also use lights or heat pads to adjust the temperature to prevent the lizard from hibernating.
