European tortoises generally live more than 40 years. The lifespan of a European tortoise is closely related to its feeding environment and living habits. European tortoises live mainly in dry grasslands and forest areas, and have high requirements for humidity. Excessive humidity can cause them to become sick or even die.

Precautions for raising European tortoises:

1. European tortoises have very high requirements for humidity and are very sensitive. As long as there is excessive moisture , respiratory diseases will follow, leading to death.

2. European tortoises need to live in a dry environment. The best water tank substrate is sandy soil, and the adaptable temperature is about 25 to 30 degrees. When the temperature in the wild is too low or too high, European tortoises , they will dig caves to hide and sleep.

3. European tortoises are not easy to survive in artificial breeding environments and are very difficult to raise.

4. European tortoise food requires high calcium and phosphorus, high fiber and low protein. European tortoises need a lot of calcium to grow their shells and bones. Their digestive tracts are very long and require high fiber content to promote gastrointestinal motility and improve digestive function.
